Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What can I expect from working with an Occupational Therapist?

A: We first start with an intake session. During this 60-minute appointment, I will gather detailed information about your lifestyle, areas of struggle and goals. We will then have our first strategy-focused session. Therapy sessions are 50 minutes. This is usually booked within a week or two of the intake session. We begin by exploring which techniques might best support you towards your goals, such as establishing sleep habits, anxiety management skills and daily routines. We will then meet every week or two depending on your needs, preference and availability. We will establish supportive habits to improve your function in day-to-day life. Expect this process to be dynamic and collaborative to ensure sessions are focused on what's important to you.

This may include improvements in routine, decreased feelings of stress and anxiety and increased confidence. However, it’s important not to compare yourself, as each person will experience individual ebbs and flows as they gain life skills and symptom management tools. It is also not uncommon to experience setbacks during this process. It is important to engage consistently in sessions, to seek support as needed, and to be patient and kind to yourself during this process.
