Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What can I expect from working with an Occupational Therapist?

A: We first start with an intake session. During this 60-minute appointment, I will gather detailed information about your lifestyle, areas of struggle and goals. We will then have our first strategy-focused session. Therapy sessions are 50 minutes. This is usually booked within a week or two of the intake session. We begin by exploring which techniques might best support you towards your goals, such as establishing sleep habits, anxiety management skills and daily routines. We will then meet every week or two depending on your needs, preference and availability. We will establish supportive habits to improve your function in day-to-day life. Expect this process to be dynamic and collaborative to ensure sessions are focused on what's important to you.

Q: Where are sessions offered?

A: Virtual sessions can be provided to clients living in Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Newfoundland, Labrador and Nova Scotia. In-person sessions are offered in Toronto.

Q: Do I need a referral to see an Occupational Therapist?

A: No, a referral is not necessary.

Q: How long does it take to see changes?

A: Although everyone’s rate of progress is unique to their needs and goals, typically clients begin to experience noticeable changes within 4-8 months. This may include improvements in routine, decreased feelings of stress and anxiety and increased confidence. However, it’s important not to compare yourself, as each person will experience individual ebbs and flows as they gain life skills and symptom management tools. It is also not uncommon to experience setbacks during this process. It is important to engage consistently in sessions, to seek support as needed, and to be patient and kind to yourself during this process.

Q: Do you offer services to children?

A: At this time, services are offered to adults, ages 19+.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A detailed receipt will be issued following receipt of payment. Receipts can be submitted to your insurer, or claimed on your taxes.

Q: How much are sessions?

A: Session fees are $140 for occupational therapy intake session and for follow up sessions. Fees are $100 for mindfulness coaching, yoga or reiki, offered exclusively by Danielle.

Q: Are you covered by insurance?

A: The answer is – it depends. Each insurance plan is specific to a company, and it is best to check your individual plan to confirm whether occupational therapy is covered. To confirm whether occupational therapy is covered, review the list of healthcare professionals under Paramedical Services within your extended benefits plan.
